The first-ever "Bug Bounty" program targeting information systems within the GOV.AZ domain has reached a successful conclusion. This landmark initiative was implemented through the "Qarabug" platform, a local cybersecurity startup, in collaboration with the 🔗 State Service for Special Communication and Information Security (SCIS)  of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

Key Highlights of the Program

Running from April to July, the project brought together security specialists who volunteered to identify system vulnerabilities. Beyond demonstrating technical prowess, these participants showcased a high degree of civic responsibility by contributing to the nation's digital resilience. This program serves as a prime example of transparency and public-private partnership in the realm of national security.

• Strategic Impact: General Major Azer Ahadov, Chief of the Main Department of the SCIS, emphasized that the project successfully merged public professional potential with state resources. He noted that the initiative significantly enhanced the monitoring and response capabilities of the Service's Security Operations Center (SOC).

• Talent Scouting: One of the program's primary triumphs was identifying talented young specialists and "next-gen" ethical hackers, including cybersecurity students and young professionals.

• Future Growth: Miraqshin Abutalıbov, founder of the "Qarabug" startup, stated that this success will inspire larger-scale projects and strengthen the local cybersecurity ecosystem.

Expansion: Why This Matters for Azerbaijan

This program marks a fundamental shift in how Azerbaijan approaches digital defense. By moving toward a crowdsourced security model, the government is effectively crowdsourcing its defense against cyber threats.
